LTC Properties President, CEO and Chairman Wendy Simpson has been selected as the second recipient of the McKnight’s Women of Distinction Lifetime Achievement Award.
The distinction is bestowed upon a woman leader who has made outstanding contributions in the area of senior living or skilled nursing over the course of a lengthy career.
“We are thrilled to recognize Wendy for this well-deserved honor,” said John O’Connor, editorial director for McKnight’s.
Simpson will be recognized May 7 at an awards ceremony and dinner in Chicago, along with the recently announced 2020 McKnight’s Women of Distinction Rising Star and Hall of Honor classes. The Women of Distinction Forum will follow the following morning.
Simpson has been president and CEO of LTC Properties since 2007 and was appointed chairman of the real estate investment trust’s board in 2013. She had been elected to the board in 1995 and joined the company as vice chairman in 2000. Simpson also formerly was chief financial officer of the REIT.
LTC invests in skilled nursing and assisted living real estate through triple-net lease transactions, mortgage loans and other investments. Its properties are in more than half of the states, with the highest concentrations in Texas, Michigan, Colorado, Florida, Kansas, Wisconsin, California, Ohio, Illinois and Kentucky.
Simpson has more than 25 years of experience in healthcare-related businesses. Before joining LTC, she held executive positions in public companies that owned and operated long-term acute-care hospitals, home health agencies, acute care hospitals and psychiatric hospitals.
Simpson began her career in public accounting. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Northern Illinois University.
The 2020 McKnight’s Women of Distinction awards program will culminate with an awards ceremony May 7 and educational forum the morning of May 8. Both events are open to everyone.
